Myles Garrett's Knee Will Take About Six Weeks, Longer Than the Rams Hoped
The Rams' big trade acquisition could miss games beyond Week 6. Sean McVay says they won't rush him.

Sean McVay likes to call Myles Garrett "Wolverine" because of how fast he heals. The Rams are going to need that to be true.
Garrett is looking at about six weeks to recover from knee surgery, sources told NFL Network, which is longer than Los Angeles expected. The arthroscopic procedure was meant to clean out the knee and get rid of the swelling and discomfort that kept him out of most of training camp. He's on injured reserve after limping through the season-opening loss to San Francisco in Melbourne.
What the calendar says
IR rules would let him come back after four games, in Week 6 against Arizona on Oct. 18. Six weeks pushes that further, possibly past Week 7 against the Raiders and Week 8 against the Chargers, with Washington up in Week 9 on Nov. 8. Garrett wants to beat the timeline, according to NFL Network, but McVay has been clear that the team isn't going to rush him.
There's a reason for caution. The Rams gave Cleveland pass rusher Jared Verse and three draft picks, including a 2027 first-rounder, to get Garrett, a five-time All-Pro and two-time Defensive Player of the Year who set the single-season sack record last year with 23.
Better news on Nacua
Puka Nacua is doubtful for tonight's game against Denver with a groin problem that has sapped some of his explosiveness, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Rams still see it as short term and hope to have him back for Week 4 in Philadelphia. Surgery isn't planned, though they haven't ruled it out if he doesn't improve.
