Four Days From Injury to Surgery: Jaxson Dart's Season Is Over, His Rehab Isn't Waiting
The Giants quarterback chose a quick repair so he can start rehab. Jameis Winston takes over against Tennessee.

Jaxson Dart didn't want to wait. Four days after his left knee was crushed between two Rams linebackers, he was scheduled for surgery, sources told ESPN, to repair his MCL and meniscus. The PCL was damaged too. The ACL held.
It happened on the seventh snap Monday night. Byron Young hit Dart from his right side and knocked him into Josaiah Stewart, who landed on the side of the knee. The first read was a sprained MCL. The scans the next day were worse.
John Harbaugh ruled him out for the regular season, a phrase that leaves a sliver of hope for the playoffs, though the Super Bowl is more than four months away. The Giants put Dart on injured reserve Thursday, and he's expected to recover fully. Harbaugh liked that the surgery came so fast and described his quarterback as determined but bummed. The season isn't over, he said, but it is for Dart.
Cam Skattebo, who calls Dart his best friend, said it was emotional to lose him. Dart had been around the facility all week, limping to meetings because he wanted to stay with the team.
Winston's team now
Jameis Winston starts Sunday against Tennessee. He struggled after coming in against the Rams, going 11 of 27 for 111 yards and an interception.
For Dart, 23, it's an abrupt stop. He opened the year by beating Dallas with 23 completions in 29 attempts, 230 yards, three touchdowns and 54 rushing yards.
