Miami's Best Receiver So Far Is a Rookie, and He Won't Play Against Kansas City
Caleb Douglas, a third-round pick, leads Miami in catches and yards. His ankle keeps him out Sunday.

Caleb Douglas has been the Dolphins' top receiver since training camp, which says something about both him and the Dolphins. The third-round rookie from Texas Tech leads Miami with seven catches for 113 yards, and he's out Sunday against Kansas City with an ankle injury.
He left last week's game against San Francisco and didn't return. Some assumed Miami was just resting him in a lopsided game, but he didn't practice all week, and coach Jeff Hafley ruled him out Friday.
The replacements are Malik Washington, rookie Chris Bell and possibly Jalen Tolbert, who was a healthy scratch the first two weeks. Bell had two limited practices and said his surgically repaired knee still gets sore and holds fluid, which doctors told him is normal after last December's ACL tear. Miami also signed A.J. Henning back to the practice squad.
Offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik said the plan won't change. What worries him is timing, getting quarterback Malik Willis and a reshuffled group of receivers on the same page for an offense that ranks 24th in yards. Defensive end Robert Beal Jr. is also out, and running back Jaylen Wright is doubtful with a stinger.
