Tyrese Haliburton didn't want anyone reporting on his health for him. "I am healthy. I am 100%. There will be no restrictions," the Pacers guard said at media day Monday. "That is not news. There is no source. I am the source."
It's been more than a year since he tore his right Achilles in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals, trying to play through a calf strain with Indiana one win from its first title. He missed all of last season, and without him the Pacers fell to a franchise-worst 19-63.
Rick Carlisle sounded a little more careful, as coaches do, but not much. "It really appears that he has made a great recovery and a great return to play," he said. "Do not anticipate a lot of limitations, but we will make sure that we go at the correct pace."
The difference between a 19-win team and a contender is a lot to put on one player coming back from an Achilles tear. Indiana isn't hiding from it, though. The Pacers traded for center Ivica Zubac at last season's deadline, and with Haliburton back, they expect to be in the mix again.
"I've put in an unbelievable amount of time to get to where I am today," Haliburton said, "so all my belief comes from that."
