Jalen Brunson averaged 32.6 points in the NBA Finals with a left wrist that needed surgery. He waited until July to get it fixed, and on Thursday he told fans he's fully cleared.
He broke the news in front of a live crowd at a taping of his "Roommates Show" podcast, and the room answered with an ovation and chants of "MVP." Sources had told ESPN's Shams Charania that he played through the injury during the title run and that the surgery wasn't expected to cost him any time.
Those Finals against San Antonio lasted five games. Brunson also averaged 4.6 assists, 4.2 rebounds and two steals, won Finals MVP, and gave the Knicks their first championship in 53 years. In the regular season he put up 26.0 points and 6.8 assists a game.
