Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks has been charged with driving under the influence, court records show, more than six months after Scottsdale police pulled him over.
The charge, a Class 1 misdemeanor, was filed Monday. Brooks, 30, is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 28.
Police arrested him during a traffic stop around 1 a.m. on March 6. A source close to Brooks told ESPN at the time that the arrest was related to marijuana.
"This charge stems from the incident last March," Suns spokesperson Stacey Mitch said. "We have addressed the matter with Dillon and have no further comment." Brooks' representatives didn't respond to requests for comment.
A second case
It's not his only matter in the Scottsdale courts. A separate misdemeanor case for reckless driving and speeding, from January, is moving toward trial, with a trial readiness conference set for Nov. 9.
On the court
Brooks is coming off the best scoring season of his career, a career-high 20.2 points a game, which earned him a three-year, $73 million extension through 2029-30. He's entering his 10th NBA season after stops in Memphis and Houston, and has averaged 14.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists for his career.
There's been no word from the team or the league on whether the charge will affect his availability.
