D'Angelo Russell has been on three teams in less than a year and played for only one of them. On Friday the latest, Memphis, waived him, and he's a free agent a month before the season.
The trail started in Dallas, where he played 26 games last season and averaged 10.2 points and 4.0 assists. The Mavericks sent him to Washington in the Anthony Davis trade. This summer he was part of a six-team deal that landed him in Memphis. He never appeared for the Wizards or the Grizzlies.
Russell is 30. His last really productive year was 2023-24 with the Lakers, when he averaged 18 points and five assists, and he's been moved around a lot since.
Memphis used the roster spot on Brendan Hausen, an undrafted guard who played at Kansas State and Iowa.
