Cavan Sullivan spent Saturday with the U.S. national team. The Union didn't seem to miss him.
Milan Iloski scored three times, his second hat trick this season, and Philadelphia beat Orlando City 4-2 for its sixth win in a row. The Union (11-10-6) haven't lost in 12 games since the World Cup break and are firming up a playoff spot.
Iloski opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 11th minute. Eight minutes later he raced away on a counter and beat goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau one-on-one. His third was the best of the lot, a rising shot from 25 yards that bent inside the left post and under the bar for a 4-0 lead in the 51st minute. Indiana Vassilev added a goal and two assists.
Iloski is only the third Union player with two hat tricks in one season, after Julián Carranza and Dániel Gazdag in 2022.
Orlando (10-13-4), also chasing a playoff place, got late goals from Iván Angulo, his fifth of the season and fourth in four games, and MartÃn Ojeda. Both teams return on Oct. 10: the Union host Real Salt Lake, and Orlando hosts Columbus.
